Overview

The Brickell Library serves 1,000 medical and health professions students as well as post graduate medical residents, faculty and staff. Librarians are active in the clinical, educational, research and outreach programs at the medical school. This position provides prompt and accurate information, reference service and user education to the EVMS community and public.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in all aspects of the library's reference and educational programs.
  • Provide reference assistance in person and via advanced technologies.
  • Provide specialized services through the clinical medical librarian program.
  • Serve on the institutional review board, and teach library-based instructional programs for clients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Master's Degree in Library Sciences from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited library school. Minimum of two years library experience. Must have competencies in library computing applications including, but not
limited to, online bibliographic searching, web design and use of Internet-based resources.

 

Preferred: coursework in health sciences librarianship or other health sciences training; experience in health sciences or academic setting.

 

Medical Library Association (MLA) certification.
