Overview

This position will provide centralized clinical education data processing by providing a means by which users can store, retrieve, and report data using a variety of Business Intelligence Solutions in multiple environments on multiple platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and implement complex database-oriented programs and maintain existing programs to insure developed business processes meet policy and functional needs, particularly with respect to the function specific modules; identify policy issues and recommendations related to software capabilities; prepare specifications for modifications and program add-ons.
  • Provide end user support with regard to database software-related questions and problems.
  • Meet with users to assess needs and requests and provide technical expertise in development and implementation of various application systems. Support requests, all releases, enhancements, and new development for applications.  Interface with users to gather requirements, conduct business analysis and write functional and technical design specifications and documentation. Translate functional requirements into detailed modes of the desired solution by defining the approach to implement the defined architecture.
  • Develop custom online enterprise systems that utilize state of the art programming and reporting utilities on multiple platforms.
  • Develop applications, which may interface with other systems, specifying the user interface, supporting the actual development and managing the integration of solutions in target environments as scoped in the projects.
  • Prepare systems development plans using established standards.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of programming languages, including new features, tools, PC techniques, technology related to IT industry.
  • Provides leadership for technology necessary to source, develop, deliver and administer centralized clinical education scheduling database services for approximately 1,000 students and over 17,000 weeks of clinical teaching.
  • Assist and provide direction to coworkers.
  • Develop written training materials, prepare and conduct user training, and identify support patterns to determine additional training needs for faculty, community faculty and preceptors, staff and students.
  • Organize and manage all phases of central scheduling database projects to ensure on-time completion.
  • Develop project scope, plans, goals, schedules and methods for measuring results.
  • Determine the organizational structure of the project team, identify roles, identify services to be provided by external companies, assemble and coordinate project team members, assign individual responsibilities and plan/prepare/disseminate project communications.
  • Coordinate activities across different organizational functions and departments; organize and lead a school-wide technical committee for centralized clinical scheduling.
  • Develop RFIs and RFPs based upon committee input and project goals.

Qualifications

Applicant should possess:

  • BS Degree an Information Technology related field or a combination of work experience, education and/or certification.  Some functional or technical training in function specific software application is preferred. 
  • Extensive experience using standard database concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Minimum of 8 years experience in database development and support.  
  • Actual application implementation or post-production support experience is required. 
  • Extensive experience in data analysis and database design is required.
  • Extensive experience developing enterprise applications with database development tools, programming languages, web development tools and design techniques.
  • Experience with web-based technologies and database web development tools is preferred.
  • Experience with performance tuning, software installation and configuration, and technical writing.
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management experience is highly desired.
  • PMP and/or Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to work well with others in high stress situations are required.
