Provides maintenance and modification support for network infrastructure requirements. Installs and maintains servers, critical applications, and user connections.
Position is located in Northern Virginia.
Perform routine diagnostic & systems monitoring.
Manages and maintains large networks utilizing 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet layer 2 & layer 3 switches, 802.11AC wireless, Fiber & Cat5 cabling, TCP/IP, Windows based servers, WANS, VPNs, routers, firewalls, voice over IP, tape backup, etc.
Will also install new network related hardware and software.

Maintain network operations and workstations, including WAN and VPN access provisions.
Install routers and layer 3 switches. Install and configure layer 2 switches utilizing fiber and copper media with Ethernet, Frame Relay, and ATM Connections. Modify networks as required to optimize performance, security, and reliability.
Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve network connectivity/performance problems.
Install, configure, and maintain wireless access points and bridges.
Install, configure, and maintain servers applications
Administer server backup as assigned. Implement & maintain backup exec software.
Provide technical and operational support for scheduling, virus/spam protection, and email programs as well as other specialized network management software.
Research equipment specifications and recommend configuration standards for servers, switches, storage provisions, and other network equipment.
Provide end user support for Microsoft and industry specific applications
Create and maintain disaster recovery plan
Troubleshoot end user and network software
Maintain CONRAD databases
Maintain AV equipment, Avaya phone system, copier, fax, etc.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Associate’s degree in MIS, Computer Science, or related technical field or equivalent experience and a minimum of 2 years experience in network administration.
Works effectively with Microsoft, Linux, pr Unix systems.
Competency designations such as MCSE is desired, but proof of detailed training or specifically applicable experience may be accepted.
Thorough working knowledge of Local Area Networking (LAN) using Novell Netware &/or Microsoft Windows 2012/2016 Server; networking equipment (switches, routers, firewalls, etc.); MS-DOS; Microsoft Windows 98/2000/XP desktop operating systems; Windows 7/10; Windows applications; & knowledge of the internal working of the Intel based microcomputer hardware.
Ability to learn & adapt to new software & hardware systems.
Problem solving ability.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Experience with Linux based servers; 802.11b/g wireless networks & voice over IP preferred.
