The Media Specialist II duties range from entry-level to advanced-level. Duties may include design; audio/visual, TV/video production; photography; illustrative work; design and production of graphic products; fabrication and maintenance of exhibits; computer animation; and leading staff.


Serves as the technical assistant for the Online Graduate Program in Clinical Embryology and Andrology; working with program directors, media manager and faculty to manage technical aspects and to collaborate on development of course materials for online presentations.  


 This position is temporary, working less than 20 hours per week.


Clinical Embryology Andrology Specific:

  • Provide technical support for live streamed courses to include set-up, sound check, online facilitation throughout the class session, troubleshooting during the online session and break-down at the end of the class session. Most of the class sessions take place during the evening hours.
  • Provide computer and online videographer services to faculty in the CEA Program as well as other programs on the EVMS/Sentara/CHKD campus to include but not limited to: CME, GME, OB/GYN and MPH. Videographer services include set-up, sound check, recording, break-down, editing and publishing.
  • Maintain the Accordant system to include editing and publishing recorded content and working with the Media Manager to perform updates to content skins.
  • Work as the assistant to the Media Manager to maintain the Online Program information systems and educational website including all of the following: editing and posting exams, quizzes, grades, lecture materials, reading materials and videos. Backup and archive web materials. 
  • Add documents to and manage documents within the Document Locator database to include but not limited to student files, course files and recorded assets.
  • Edit and consult program faculty on design for course presentations, instructional materials and education modules for online learning including: digital video editing, sound recording and engineering.
  • Teach short technical how to sessions to other staff, faculty and students.
  • Serve as adjunct faculty liaison – primary point of communication as well as insuring information and required forms are obtained.
  • Maintain accurate and updated program web sites, program SOP and best practices documents.
  • Communicate with students and assist them by helping to problem solve important technical issues; create instructional materials to explain any technical issues.
  • Develop and produce computer-based (flash/java/etc) animations of medical, biochemical, molecular, reproductive, genetic and other concepts
  • Provide administrative support as needed to include but not limited to making copies, scanning, filing, letter writing, data entry, transporting materials across campus and simple research.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.





  • Associate’s Degree, certification or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience in audio visual or conferencing services required.
  • Works effectively with Microsoft Office systems.
  • Must have a working knowledge of personal computer (PC) hardware, operating systems, and common application suites such as Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a competency in functions related to audio visual services.
  • A demonstrated ability to systematically analyze application problems; working knowledge of common troubleshooting techniques and tools used and a demonstrated ability to communicate well verbally and in writing is needed.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to work well with others in high stress situations is required.
  • Must be capable of unsupervised management of audio visual services to clients.
  • Experience with computer programming and animation is preferred
