The Brickell Library serves 1,000 medical and health professions students as well as post graduate medical residents, faculty and staff. Librarians are active in the clinical, educational, research and outreach programs at the medical school. This position reports to the Director of Library Services and oversees the provision of prompt and accurate information, reference service and user education, as well as, outreach services to the EVMS community and public.


  • Manages the Reference Services and Outreach unit of the Library including specialized services through the Clinical Medical Librarian Program, the IRB and IACUC.
  • Participates in all aspects of the library’s reference and educational programs
  • Supervises two reference librarians (Librarian I)
  • Oversees the development of outreach services  
  • Compiles and writes unit statistical and budget reports for the Director
  • Performs duties as assigned.


Master’s Degree in Library Sciences from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited library school. Minimum of three years of library experience. Must have competencies in library computing applications including, but not limited to online bibliographic searching, web design and use of Internet-based resources.

Preferred: coursework in health sciences librarianship or other health sciences training; experience in health sciences or academic setting. Medical Library Association (MLA) certification.
