Negotiates contracts, coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services such as equipment, tools, parts and supplies for EVMS.
Negotiates contracts with vendors, sets up requests for proposals/quotes, reviews bids and brings contract to closure. Meet with key partnering suppliers weekly to evaluate vendor performances.
Serve as a leader to other buyers while assisting the Associate Director with special projects relating to purchasing. In the absent of the Associate Director, Sr. Buyer would oversee the procurement of all requisitions.
Require individual to be self-motivated with minimal amount of supervision necessary once tasks are assigned.
Coordinates requirements with EVMS staff. Acts as a resource with staff requiring assistance with the computer system.
Activates and maintains computer records and action documents by using the Materials Management information system.
Administers ongoing contracts.
Expedites supply activity as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) plus one year of experience in purchasing or material handling. Computer experience required.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to prepare RFQ and bids.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra. Ability to evaluate cost proposals using computer spread sheets.
