  • Overview

    Performs diagnostic ultrasonography procedures at a skilled technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail.


    **This position is working less than 20 hours per week**



    • Research and interpretation of patient’s medical history in relation to exam.
    • Select and set up appropriate test equipment.
    • Determine the proper patient positioning and transducer selection to achieve accurate test results.
    • Take ultrasound scan of patient (OB/GYN, transvaginal, limited Doppler, amniocentesis) by recording data, visualizing anatomy, and charting information for diagnostic interpretation of physician. 
    • Operate equipment that produces photographs or printout images.
    • Perform nuchal translucency measurements for first trimester screening
    • Counsel patient before and after scan regarding the procedure, the results and the implication of the results on the pregnancy.
    • Formulation of all patient ultrasound reports and submission of related changes and diagnosis
    • Assist physicians with invasive procedures.
    • Maintain records of patient’s visits.  Maintain videotape files.
    • Maintain  ARDMS certification-associated CME credits
    • Assist with scheduling of all ultrasound equipment maintenance and service
    • Perform other duties as assigned.


    Associate’s Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography; or successful completion of a Radiological Technology program (or closely related field) and successful completion of a Medical Sonography program.

    Must be ARRT and/or ARDMS registered in two or more sub-specialties, of which one should be Obstetrics/Gynecology and one Nuchal Translucency (NT) and have at least three years of relevant experience if coming outside EVMS MFM or two years’ experience with EVMS MFM.


    Experience should include fetal anomalies, high risk OB, Doppler flow studies and providing ultrasound guidance for invasive fetal procedures.
