Check in and register patients at the Maternal Fetal Medicine, OB Generalist, and Urogynecology office. Collect co-pays, complete cash journal and Medifax charts. Patient confidentiality must be maintained at all times. Certified Medical Assistants may on a limited basis be responsible for triaging patients and obtaining vitals to include height, weight, temperature and blood pressures.
Check in and register patients.
Update patient data daily.
Obtain authorizations and referrals from physician’s office.
Verify patient information for accuracy.
Scan insurance card and picture ID into EMR system daily.
Complete cash journal for money.
Communicate with Financial Consultant for self pay patients.
Check EMR tasks daily.
Compliance with Policies and Procedures within the Department of Maternal Fetal Medicine,
OB/GYN, and EVMS Medical Group Policies and Procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned, according to the individual departmental needs.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Provides back-up coverage for medical assistants as needed (CMA or RMA only).
High school diploma. One (1) year experience performing related functions in a doctor’s office. Must have some working knowledge of computers and typing experience. Professional, customer service-oriented individual is required. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is preferred to assist in clinical as needed. RMA will be accepted.
