Schedule surgery for 9 physicians, including acute patients. Performs pre-operation teaching and schedule any tests and clearance needed for surgery. Acts as liaison between the patient, physician, hospital business office and the insurance company in scheduling surgical procedures.
Schedule all surgeries to include all physicians. Coordinates surgeries with colleagues and community offices.
Post surgeries using hospital’s computer program, per the physician’s schedule and availability.
Schedule pre-operative laboratory and imaging tests.
Schedule all medical and cardiac clearances as instructed.
Communicate to patients all appointments making sure patient is aware of any restrictions and what to bring to appointments.
Pre-operative teaching and instructions.
Assist patients with checking in and out for their office appointment. Update personal and insurance information in charts.
Inform appropriate administrative personnel of surgery schedule so that they may make appropriate changes to physicians calendar.
Ensure eligibility of insurance. Obtain insurance pre-certifications before surgery.
Email patient information to hospital chart room prior to anything testing, appointment, or surgery.
Complete a surgery list for weekly pre-op conference and administrative staff.
Answer multi-phone line, assist caller appropriately.
Performs other duties as assigned.
HS diploma or GED and 1 year of medical office experience is required. Previous experience is surgical scheduling preferred.
