Assist physicians with complete patient care and Contribute to the well-being of patients by serving as a positive role model and demonstrating a professional, caring attitude, and behavior towards co-workers, patients, and guests.
Perform ante partum fetal testing to include non-stress testing and contraction stress testing.
Perform weekly Amniotic Fluid Index monitoring on patients in NST.
Determine the technical adequacy of each test and independently assess appropriateness of each patient’s testing based on established policies and protocols.
Recognize normal versus abnormal results; prepare accurate, readable report of the test; contact RN when necessary.
Correlate the patient’s clinical history with fetal monitoring results and recognized signs and symptoms of maternal/fetal compromise. Institute appropriate nursing actions for referral.
Record all pertinent patient information in EMR
Following delivery, tracings should be properly labeled, filed and placed in Iron Mountain boxes to be sent for storage. Excel spreadsheet created for each box to be sent to storage.
Sterilize equipment and supplies.
Clean NST room and stock with necessary supplies.
Engage in authorization of prescriptions for patients.
Review and return phone calls from patients, phone triage, patient scheduling and calling pharmacies.
Review patient lab results, discuss abnormal findings with the RN and follow up with patient in regard to treatment prescribed by the physician as necessary
Check tasks in EMR daily

Completion of a program of instruction for licensure as a Practical Nurse required. Minimum one year experience with high risk obstetric patients and minimum one year experience in fetal monitoring preferred. A Virginia State license is required.
