Overview

Assist physicians with patient care for the Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine in a  PACU setting.  Assessment of patient status preop/postop.  This is a transient position working less than 20 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, and evaluate plan of care specifically for the fertility/OB/gyn patient.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with the multi disciplinary peri-operative team to facilitate the most comprehensive care in the pre/post op setting .
  • Including individualized care that supports protection from harm in the pre/post op phase of the patients stay.
  • Provides emotional support and reassurance at all times, while demonstrating skill levels and problem solving techniques for airway management of the post op patient.
  • Phone triage through electronic health record maintaining all assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Maintain clean, well equipped pre op/post op examination rooms.
  • Observes patients and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment to physician.
  • Coverage for the retrieval/transfer patients in the JI-OR as needed.
  • Assembles and prepares equipment and supplies for procedures as required.
  • Maintains clinical competency in areas of responsibility to ensure quality patient care.
  • Promote the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the school and the department by becoming familiar with and complying with policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to the well-being of patients by serving as a positive role model and demonstrating a professional caring attitude towards co-workers, patients, and guests.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Completion of instruction from an RN program required.  Must have valid VA license.
