Overview

Senior Scientist – Nonclinical Development, will integrate, facilitate, and manage activities relating to planning, executing, and monitoring nonclinical projects at CONRAD. The incumbent will track project plans to ensure key milestones and deliverables are met. Identify and communicate critical path activities along with any risks, issues or resource requirements pertaining to nonclinical projects and work with team to develop appropriate solutions. Responsible to drive information flow and serve as main source of project information to stakeholders. Routinely inform key stakeholders of project milestones, plans, status, and decisions through frequent reporting and communication. This position will report to the Director, Preclinical Activities.

 

 

This position is located in our Northern Virginia office in Arlington, VA.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for designing and managing nonclinical studies used to assess development of drug delivery systems for microbicides and contraceptive products
  • Interacts with contract labs to maintain scientific quality and timeline management
  • Responsible for writing and editing portions of regulatory documents including nonclinical (Pharm/Tox) sections of INDs, IDEs, and annual reports
  • Assist and coordinate specific preclinical drug development activities (e.g., in vitro permeability studies, animal pharmacokinetic studies, and IND-enabling toxicology studies) as needed
  • Facilitate project management discussions and participate in product development meetings
  • Manage project timelines for assigned projects and assist others in creating project timelines within the product development group

 

Qualifications

Ph.D. degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., pharmaceutics, pharmacology, toxicology) or equivalent with experience in HIV prevention science preferred. Five (5) years’ experience of relevant drug development/drug delivery experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry or equivalent.
