Overview

Art Therapist will provide art therapy services through the EVMS Medical Group. Follow EVMS Medical Group and GATCP policies. Act professionally and ethically with appropriate boundaries and scope of practice as designated by professional standards of ethics.

 

*This is a part-time position*

Responsibilities

  • Provide equal access and opportunity for clients in the community to participate in art therapy services;
  • Conduct assessments, individual and group art therapy
  • Actively promote physical and emotional safety consistent with facility guidelines;
  • Work cooperatively with faculty members, program director, and facility staff;
  • Make appropriate referrals to mental health resources within the facility and community for clients for psychiatric services;
  • Document in writing referrals for mental health or medical services;
  • Document client progress in all services via progress notes, quarterly reports, and discharge summaries.
  • Practice on a continuum therapeutic model providing psychoeducational experiences, psychotherapy, and linking to community resources
  • Communicate with local stakeholders, if needed
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and training offered by EVMS and the community
  • Participate in GATCP faculty meetings and professional development trainings related to recertification, educational trainings, and trainings related to maintaining credentials;
  • Assist with linking clients to community resources
  • Develop scope of practice and referral training
  • Fulfill any other duties as assigned by the program director, GATCP, SHP, and EVMS Medical Group(participation on committees, faculty advisor, student support)

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Art Therapy, Counseling. Must be ATR (Registered Art Therapist) or ATR-BC (Registered Art Therapist-Board Certified). Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) preferred. Experience with outpatient models of practice, third party reimbursement, and/or managing grant funding desired.

 

Specialty Qualifications:

  • Experience working with veterans and/or military service members
  • Knowledge of military culture
  • Knowledge, understanding, and practice of/with post-traumatic stress disorder
