Assist physicians with complete patient care and Contribute to the well-being of patients by serving as a positive role model and demonstrating a professional, caring attitude, and behavior towards co-workers, patients, and guests.
Call patient from reception area and prepare patient for examination by providing gowns.
Take vital signs such as height, weight, temperature and blood pressure. May draw blood and give injections.
Record all pertinent patient information in EMR; document in detail conversations and instructions given to patients. Including patient response and nurse advice.
Offer patient education when appropriate in triage.
QA and prep charts for upcoming visits.
Chaperone physician in examining room as needed; assist with minor surgical and diagnostic procedures.
Schedule and perform nurse visit related appointments.
Sterilize equipment and supplies.
Clean exam rooms and stock them with necessary supplies.
Inventory, order, and requisition supplies.
Administer immunizations and other injections.
May perform clerical duties such as reviewing and returning phone calls from patients, phone triage, and patient scheduling, and calling pharmacies.
Develop an assessment of the patient’s problem based on conversation with the patient.
Use clinical judgment, knowledge and experience to direct conversation with the patient.
Provide self-care advice, refer to PCP, make an appointment or direct to emergency department as necessary.
Review patient lab results, imaging studies, discuss abnormal findings with the physician and follow up with patient in regard to treatment prescribed by the physician as necessary.
Request Prior Authorizations for appointment related needs.
Check tasks in EMR daily
May perform NST with certification which will be provided by EVMS
Travel to satellite locations as needed
Performs other duties as assigned.
Completion of a program of instruction for licensure as an LPN and valid VA license is required. Previous clinical experience is preferred.
