The Lead MA is responsible for assisting department management in coordination of patient care and clinic operations to include, but not limited to:  being the primary Super User directly responsible for assisting providers and clinic staff with immediate EHR concerns,  assists providers and clinic staff with outstanding tasks for patient centered quality care, and is a line of contact between clinic staff and department management  in giving detailed clinical operations reports regarding clinic staff and provider’s concerns to implement quality improvement measures.

The Medical Assistant will develop a high level of knowledge and expertise in caring for the facial plastic surgery patient. The Medical Assistant will use this knowledge to assist the physician in caring for and educating the patients pre and postoperatively


The Medical Assistant will work closely with the clinical receptionist, administrative assistant and surgical scheduler to manage the office and surgical schedules. The Medical Assistant will be mindful of surgeons and patients preferences and will coordinate with all parties in a professional and courteous manner.


The Medical Assistant will work with patients and other physicians to schedule consultations, pre-surgical testing, answering/triaging patient phone calls and post-operative scheduling.  


The Medical Assistant will meet with patients to provide estimated cosmetic quotes provided to them by the supervising physician– including costs related to surgeon, anesthesia and facility fees. During this time the Medical Assistant will be expected to be able to discuss common concerns or questions that patients contemplating facial plastic surgery may have. The Medical Assistant will mail additional information and surgical preparation packets to patients.


The Medical Assistant should be detail oriented and organized in order to help ensure that all patients information, pre-operative scheduling/clearances and surgical scheduling is completed and maintained in a timely fashion. The Medical Assistant should able to multi-task calls from current and prospective patients and family members, other physician offices, surgical scheduling offices and clearly relay relevant information to the supervising physician or others assisting with the patients care. 


The Medical Assistant will assist the physician during clinics. Specific duties during clinic will include – rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, documenting portions of the patients medical history, creating a clinical summary, ordering tests and assisting fulfill other requests of the supervising physician.


The Medical Assistant must maintain a professional and courteous demeanor and helpful attitude while interacting with all patients and physicians offices in order to provide excellent service to all those involved with the facial plastic surgery practice.


Performs other duties as assigned.


High school diploma plus successful completion of a Medical Assistant program and certification (RMA or CMA). Equivalent military training will be accepted. Must be an experienced M.A. of at least 2 years in a high volume clinical practice. Completion of BLS class and re-certify every 2 years.
