This position assists in the coordination of clinical research projects starting with the evaluation of feasibility and safety of the study. The position will participate actively in the research projects of a diverse group of researchers in the EVMS community.
The Public Safety Officer provides safety and security services for the EVMS Campus through active patrols and manning stationary posts. The Public Safety Officer directs traffic, provides vehicle assistance (jump starts, flat tires, lock outs), and ensures safe movement of people and vehicles throughout the campus. The Public Safety Officer monitors building ingress, registers visitors, and provides directions. The Public Safety Officer ensures building and facility security and integrity through periodic patrol and inspection of all buildings and grounds during tours of duty. The Public Safety Officer is an identifiable ambassador for EVMS and is expected to be courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable of the EVMS Campus, services, and policies.
The Research Assistant will provide support to the Principal Investigator with the biomedical science research in the Department of Physiological Science.
Schedules office visits, follow up appointments and in office procedures for 10 physicians, including trauma and acute care patients. Answers multi-phone line. Assists patients with their office visit to include checking them in and out, assuring insurance information is accurate, and personal information is updated. Corresponds daily with administrative staff regarding physician’s calendars and schedules. Obtains pre-authorizations and confirms eligibility of insurance. Acts as liaison between the patient, physician, hospital, business office and insurance companies in scheduling surgical appointments.
Position provides implementation and maintenance of all desktop/laptop computer capabilities in a complex network environment.Expected to work after hour on call on a rotating basis.
Responsible for greeting patients, answering the telephone, scanning pertinent patient data into the electronic medical record, checking patients in and out, verifying patient insurance and referrals, and scheduling appointments for Maternal Fetal Medicine, OB Generalist, Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery, and Uro-gynecology office.

As a key member of the clinical support team within the Voice and Swallowing Center, a part of the Division of Laryngology within the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, this position plays a vital role in the overall management of the manometry services offered within the Division as well as assist patients in the transition between inpatient and outpatient care.
The Division is currently active at three practice locations but it is anticipated that this role will spend the majority of their time and effort at the office located inside of Norfolk General Hospital.

Under direction of the Division Director for Head and Neck Surgery, and accountable to the Practice Manager, this position will have a primary responsibility to provide Administrative and Surgery Scheduling support to assigned Division Faculty members. The position will also play a key role in coordination with interfacing with Sentara staff members in the overall goal in producing the highest possible patient experience within the Sentara-EVMS Comprehensive Head and Neck Cancer Center. The position is currently located at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and it is anticipated that the role will move to the Sentara Leigh Campus in July 2024.
The Residency/Fellowship Program Specialist position serves as the appointed Residency/Fellows Coordinators for the Graduate Medical Education programs and, for ACGME accredited programs, is recorded as such by the ACGME. The RFPS position has three levels with varying educational requirements and position responsibilities. The major responsibilities are defined at the discretion of the Program Director (PD). Promotion through the Residency Program Specialist levels require successive education, scholarly activity and responsibility within the program.
The RFPS positions may have other duties as assigned by the Department; however, for residency programs must have protected time for the residency responsibilities as defined by the ACGME, other accrediting body, or the Graduate Medical Education Council. For fellowship programs, the RFPS position may have other duties as assigned by the Department but must have a protected time for the fellowship responsibilities as defined by the ACGME, other accrediting body or the Graduate Medical Education Council, or if undefined, a minimum of 20% time. For RFPS positions which are responsible for more than one program, an additional 20% protected time is required for each additional program.
The Technical Services Technician actively participates in the daily operations of the Technical Services unit which includes the acquisition and maintenance of print and electronic resources.

We are looking for Advanced Practice Providers (APP), a nurse practitioner (NP) or a physician assistant (PA), who will function as a clinical provider in the Division of General Internal Medicine, Department of Medicine. The APP will participate in all aspects of patient care and will participate in the supporting roles of consultant and educator as indicated. The clinical practice will mostly focus on clinical care of patients with Sickle Cell Disease in the hospital and in the outpatient clinic under supervision of clinical faculty. The clinical practice may also include provision of primary care to all types of patients.
