  • Overview

    Provides high-level support, advising, and counseling for Medical Master’s students who are seeking admission to Medical School programs.   This support includes serving as course director/coordinator for BM-524 and BM-525 Clinical Shadowing/Service Learning.   


    • Meet with and advise medical master’s students regarding application processes and ongoing academic performance. 
    • Assist students with preparation of professional school application material.
      • Assist students with creating personal statements
      • Provides feedback/grammar
      • Course context match w/medical school
      • Monitors overall program
    • Foster an open environment for understanding and working with diverse student populations.
    • Coordinate and schedule mock medical school interviews.
    • Oversee course calendars.
    • Network with health profession admission offices and other health professions advisors.
    • Serve as course director/course coordinator for BM-524 and BM-525 Clinical Shadowing/Service Learning by interpreting information/course content.
      • Serve as a liaison between physician mentors, volunteer organizations, and the Medical Master’s Program.
      • Schedule and record student shadowing and volunteer activities.
      • Manage Blackboard site for the course.
      • Serve as liaison to Interfolio: manage student accounts, monitor letters of recommendation.
      • Document and communicate student performance to program director and enter final grades into ORACLE for access by the Registrar, Financial Aid, and other offices as needed.
    • Create spreadsheets and maintain applications, offer letters, and waitlist status. 
    • Maintain program records (current student files) prior to release to the Registrar, including student information and alumni contact list.
    • Provide assistance for EVMS Orientation and Commencement Ceremony.
    • Organize and execute program portion of SHP Open House.
    • Develop marketing tools and implements related initiatives in conjunction with the Program Director, including use of social media.
    • Attend and recruit prospective students at EVMS events and marketing fairs.
    • Edit and review program letters of recommendation with the Program Director and/or advisors for past and current students. Prepares and uploads letters to designated delivery method (AMCAS, Interfolio, etc.).
    • Perform other duties as assigned.



    Bachelor’s degree is required.  Be experienced in coordinating large and wide-reaching recruiting efforts.  Be a strong writer and editor with emphasis on story/contextual editing (content, flow, and clarity).   


    Proficiency in MS Office Suite, and Outlook is required. Strong organizational and communications skills needed.  Demonstrate ability to capture and convey the interrelationship of program information (and large concepts in general). Demonstrate ability to manage complex work flows, and multi-task under pressure and deadlines.
