  • Overview

    This is a full time position for a medical assistant, providing outpatient care for our patients and assisting our physicians in all clinical areas of the practice.

     

    Copy of active certification is required upon application submission.  Documentation must include your name, certification number, and expiration date.  Any submission received without certification or any submission received with expired certification is incomplete and will not be considered.

    Responsibilities

    Serves as Medical Assistant for 6 physicians, 2 physician assistants, and 2 nurses.

     

    Primary responsibility for arranging patient appointments with providers who

    require physician referral.

     

    Obtain prior authorizations for medications.

     

    Responsible for scanning patient information into electronic medical record.

     

    Responsible for reviewing opioid agreement with all new and existing patients.

     

    Responsible for notifying patients when their prescriptions are ready for pick-up for all providers.

     

    Responsible for obtaining completed Medical Record Release forms from patients requesting copies of their medical records and/or requesting that they be sent to other providers/practices.

     

    Responsible for triaging patients from reception area to clinical area.

     

    Triage patients and takes vital signs such as height, weight, temperature and blood pressure.

     

    Assist with Urine Drug Screenings:  collection process & assuring chain of custody.

     

    Maintains clean, well-equipped examination rooms and cleans and sterilizes instruments.

     

    Responsible for organizing medication supply cabinet.

     

    Responsible for replenishing exam rooms with proper medical supplies daily. 

     

    Reviews patient chart prior to appointment to ensure proper documentation/authorization is in chart.

     

    Responsible for scheduling all physical therapy appointments and diagnostic testing.

     

    Responsible for all prescription refill/voicemail request and/or obtaining authorization for specific medications.

     

    Responsible for scanning all correspondence and medical reports as it relates to patients.

     

    Assists medical receptionist with appointments, scheduling, referrals & authorizations, answering telephone, taking messages and registering patients according to practice protocol.

     

    Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Completion of a medical assistant program (or equivalent military training) and active certification (CMA or RMA) is required.
