  • Overview

    Perform community outreach in the city of Portsmouth on behalf of the Portsmouth Diabetes Prevention Project. This is a grant funded part-time position and will terminate at the end of the grant period.

     

    This position works no more than 20 hours per week. 

     

    Responsibilities

    • Participate in regular outreach activities in homes, neighborhoods and community-based organizations such as libraries or churches to recruit study participants.
    • Coordinate community meetings, prepare meeting minutes and lead group discussions, as directed.
    • Represent the organization at community and coalition meetings or events.
    • Coordinate with Healthy Portsmouth and Portsmouth Health Department to support collaborative community engagement efforts
    • Be sensitive to cultural, ethnic and gender orientation differences.
    • Possess self-motivation skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
    • Possess strong social and interpersonal skills.
    • Performs other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    High school degree plus two years of experience working in a community outreach program performing duties such as intake, assessments, program screening, home visits and survey/data collection, Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office is required.

     

    Valid Driver’s license, provide a recent DMV report and have use of a vehicle in good working order with proof of insurance with a minimum limit of liability of $100,000 per accident as use of a personal vehicle will be required as part of this position.   Copies of all documents must be provided to Human Resources, prior to any use of a personal vehicle for this position.
