  • Overview

    The Lead MA is responsible for assisting department management in coordination of patient care and clinic operations to include, but not limited to:  being the primary Super User directly responsible for assisting providers and clinic staff with immediate EHR concerns,  assists providers and clinic staff with outstanding tasks for patient centered quality care, and is a line of contact between clinic staff and department management  in giving detailed clinical operations reports regarding clinic staff and provider’s concerns to implement quality improvement measures.

    Responsibilities

    Lead M.A. Essential Duties And Responsibilities

    • Responsible for the coordination of lunches and breaks between front and back office staff.
    • Monitors and inventories supplies for both Princess Anne and Andrews Hall clinics and orders supplies as necessary.
    • Is the designated E.H.R. Super Users for all providers and staff in clinic.
    • Ensures smooth office operations with support team and facilitates successful communication between front and back office staff.
    • Oversees throughout the clinic that all documents requiring processing are completed and followed up on as necessary. Assist other staff members with the completion difficult tasks.
    • Responsible for orientating and training all new Medical Assistants (patient triage, tasks, paperwork and workflows).
    • Attends Clinic staff meetings, Department meetings, Compliance meetings and Monthly Clinical Education Series and distributes new information to MAs.
    • Provides on-going useful, objective and constructive input on streamlining processes and workflows and assists Office Manager with development and implementation.
    • Provides daily end-of-shift report to Office Manager
    • Provides first level support as a patient services liaison in researching and addressing issues surrounding complaints, billing, registration. Communicates these finding with Office Manager.

     

    As Lead M.A. also functions as an M.A. with the below listed responsibilities:

     

    Medical Assistant Essential Duties And Responsibilities

    • Performs phone triage, completes team tasks, paperwork and faxes.
    • Take vital signs such as height, weight, temperature and blood pressure, record in electronic health record.
    • Reconciles allergy lists, medication lists, and smoking status of patients.
    • Chaperons and assists providers as requested.
    • Maintains clean, well-equipped examination rooms, cleans and sterilizes instruments.
    • Stock examination rooms and triage area with medical supplies. Monitors inventory levels and submits reorder requests.
    • Scan upcoming appointments for additional medical record information necessary. Obtain medical records from other physician offices, hospitals, labs, emergency rooms, and radiology prior to patient visit.
    • Participate in all staff meetings, education lectures and PCMH/QI improvement activities.
    • Follow EVMS protocols related to infection control, environmental safety and patient confidentiality. Complete annual recertification for Blood Borne Pathogens, HIPAA Compliance Training, Respiratory FIT and IT Policy.  Maintain current CPR certification and any updates relating to M.A. Certification.
    • Performs other duties as assigned
    • Is required to provide support for assigned provider at the Princess Anne Campus.

    Qualifications

    High school diploma plus successful completion of a Medical Assistant program and certification (RMA or CMA). Equivalent military training will be accepted. Must be an experienced M.A. of at least 2 years.

    Ability to balance multiple priorities and tasks.

    Ability to make professional nursing decisions under the supervision of the physicians and licensed nurses.

    Possess professional interaction skills with physicians, outside offices, pharmacies, referring agencies, hospital personnel and support staff.

    Supervisory experience is preferred.
