Assist physicians, faculty and nurses with the multi tasking of the Center to enhance the department effectiveness with medical assistance and office procedures. This includes, but is not limited to triaging patients, answering phones, scanning pertinent patient data into the electronic medical record, checking patients in and out, scheduling appointments and working/maintaining task lists in the electronic medical records system. Patient confidentiality must be maintained at all times.

Responsible for triaging patients; assisting patients to the exam room, taking/entering vitals, reviewing forms, answering questions and preparing patient for the physician.
Decision making and problem solving for patients within the medical assistant role.
Call in medication refills and new prescriptions upon physician request and approval and enter into the patient’s electronic medical record.
Screen and triage phone calls from patients, care givers and/or medical facilities. Answer incoming calls, take messages, and page physicians when needed.
Administer injections of medications or immunizations in accordance with approved protocol or standing orders and document appropriately in the patients’ electronic medical record.
Copy, prepare and send medical records for insurance companies, etc…
Maintain clean and well equipped exam rooms.
Compile and assemble clinical and laboratory results in patients chart.
Work and maintain task list in the electronic medical records and assist with clinical reports as needed.
Scan diagnostic tests into the EHR.
All other duties as assigned related to front office and administrative duties.
PATIENT CONFIDENTIALITY MUST BE MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES.
High school diploma plus successful completion of a Medical assistant program (or equivalent military training) and active certification (CMA, CCMA, or RMA) is required. Completion of AB-ROE modules will be accepted in lieu of certification. At least one year of experience in a “fast-paced” medical office /clinical area.
Completion of BLS Training with recertification every 2 years.
Copy of active certification is required upon application submission. Documentation must include your name, certification number, and expiration date. Any submission received without certification or any submission received with expired certification is incomplete and will not be considered.
