  • Overview

    Under the supervision of the Program Director the Research Assistant will support the implementation of childhood obesity and tobacco prevention projects, working directly with child care centers and other community partners. The Research Assistant will provide project-specific education to community members, child care center staff and children, develop recommendations to address site-specific health concerns, and support the implementation of site-specific action plans to create healthy policies and environments.


    This is a part-time position.



    • Provide staff support to project sites, including education, assessments, recommendations, community meetings, surveys, data collection and entry, and other assessment related tasks as determined necessary by the project
    • Participate in the development of reports for the funding agency
    • Support the development of the site specific action plans
    • Work with sites and partners to support the implementation of identified activities per the project work plans
    • Provide education and trainings to participating sites and community members on project topics
    • Develop educational and promotional materials for project sites and community
    • Attend and participate in the related meetings for CINCH
    • Other duties as assigned



    • Bachelor’s degree in a health, education, or social and behavioral science field (such as public health, education, community health, psychology, sociology, social work.
    • Experience working with children or in an early care setting and/or experience with maternal-child health
    • Must be a self-starter with demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently
    • Must have exceptional time management and organizational skills and ability to multitask effectively
    • Must have experience with public speaking and presentations to large groups
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and other content development software
    • Experience with breastfeeding, nutrition, physical activity, and/or tobacco initiatives or programs a plus
