  • Overview

    Developing and teaching courses in the RCS MS and PhD Programs


    • Develop and manage syllabus and course materials as part of a multi-disciplinary curriculum planning team in accordance with established policies and procedures.
    • Coordinate curriculum with Program Associate Director and faculty by reviewing required course material and recommending updates/changes.
    • Facilitate class instruction and interact weekly with students.
    • Respond promptly to all student inquiries regarding course content within the guidelines established by the RCS Program and as outlined in the syllabus.
    • Evaluate and provide feedback on ongoing student performance and award grades according to established guidelines and timelines.
    • Respond promptly to questions about grade determination and follow all policies and procedures related to grade challenges.
    • Submit an electronic copy to the Program Associate Director of pertinent course records not maintained in the course Blackboard site (i.e., student file notes documenting areas of concern, assignments in dispute). Keep a copy of the course gradebook and sufficient notes to explain grade determination in the case of a dispute for a period of three years. 
    • Attend faculty meetings and respond to communication from the associate director promptly.
    • Comply with any required EVMS faculty training related to teaching. 


    Education:  Graduate from a regionally accredited basic science or clinical lab master’s or doctorate program (in Reproductive Clinical Science or Developmental Biology or Molecular Biology or Genetics or a closely related field).   


    Teaching Experience:  Experience teaching at the graduate level or in a clinical lab setting.  Proof of acceptable teaching evaluations a plus.
