Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports.
Prepare monthly Financial Statements including providing explanation of variances. Identify and correct discrepancies to ensure accuracy of information.
Assist Controller to prepare audited financial statements, supporting schedules and footnotes.
Analyze financial reports to provide useful information to management.
Prepare complex account reconciliations involving multiple accounts.
Perform research and complete special projects requiring judgment and experience, as assigned by supervisor.
Prepare of journal entries related to accounts assigned and assist others with preparation of journal entries.
Review and update journal entries including reviewing journal entries for accuracy and appropriateness.
Perform research and completes special projects requiring judgment and experience, as assigned by supervisor.
Complete monthly entries for the Student Loan accounts and prepare the Funds Available Report.
Review the monthly Reconciliations prepared by other staff and assist with issues.
Responsible for bond issue requisition and reconciliation for EVMS debt and State capital projects. Monitor compliance with IRS regulations for tax exempt debt and State regulations for State capital funds.
Prepare reconciliations for construction accounts as required by the Vice President of Administration and Finance and Associate Vice President of Finance.
Review and approve Independent Contractor Determination in accordance with IRS guidelines.
Monitor any IRS requirement changes that would effect EVMS policies/procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned by Assistant Vice President of Finance and the Controller.
Attention to detail and mental concentration are necessary for accurately performing tasks and handling frequent interruptions.
Must be able to work independently.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. Masters degree and/or CPA preferred.
3 years’ experience in accounting or financial capacity
