The Video & Interactive Media Manager II is responsible for developing, producing, shooting, and editing creative video packages and deploying interactive online media strategies that tell the story of the medical school and raise its profile in the community. The Video & Interactive Media Manager II must be able to manage projects from beginning to end working with a variety of different people under short deadlines. He/She will help develop an online video and interactive media strategy for the organization.
Strong ability to develop, produce, direct, shoot and edit high-quality, creative digital video packages. Excellent visual instincts and strong familiarity with a variety of digital video cameras and sound equipment. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve video and audio problems during production.
Ability to work individually and collaboratively. Ability to conduct effective interviews.
Strong understanding of digital audio, digital video, and effective lighting principles and an ability to put them consistently into practice.
Strong understanding of HD video work flow and online media work flow (including compression, uploads, management of internet media files). Ability to balance multiple priorities, manage tight deadlines and produce complete video packages weekly.
Strong understanding of online digital video. Ability to develop and recommend strategies for leveraging online video to increase awareness of EVMS and its strategic goals.
High degree of proficiency using Final Cut and Adobe digital image/video products. Experience with other non-linear editing, graphics and sound software is a plus.
Ability to understand complex medical and health stories and present the complexities for both general and medical audiences in video/multimedia/social media formats. Excellent storytelling ability.
Strong understanding of social media/Web 2.0 opportunities (including blogs, podcasts, social networking sites, wikis, etc.) and knowledge of available services, tools, interaction techniques and best practices.
Ability to develop and recommend strategies for leveraging social media to build a strong online community and to more closely connect EVMS with its constituents (community, faculty, students, alumni, donors, etc.).
Ability to shoot still digital images with a high degree of proficiency is a plus.
Understanding of Flash, HTML and other web technologies is a plus
Ability to forge good working relationships with all members of the EVMS community, including highly accomplished physicians, scientist and health professionals.
Ability to “think on your feet” and adapt quickly to achieve project goals and high levels of quality.
Intellectual curiosity, strong reading and research skills and an ability to listen effectively are required. Strong scriptwriting, editing and proofreading skills are essential.
Familiarity with the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, AP style, copyright laws, digital media and other technical components of journalism are required.

Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, English, Journalism or other communications field is required. Extensive work experience in video and multimedia production may potentially be substituted for the bachelor’s degree. Three years’ work experience in vvideo and/or multimedia production.
