  • Overview

    This position will be responsible for supporting faculty in areas related to instructional design, eLearning, modern pedagogy, educational technology and innovative ways of teaching and learning.

    Responsibilities

    • Working closely with faculty to construct outcome based session objectives, lesson plans and using these to create a curriculum map of the MD program
    • Working closely with faculty to create multiple modalities of instruction
    • Creating a process and tool to continuously update the curriculum map that will help faculty to look up what topic was taught where and in what depth, how was it assessed.
    • Assisting faculty in creating lesson plans for small and large group learning sessions
    • Providing direction for developing video-based, synchronous and asynchronous online teaching and learning technologies. 
    • Assisting faculty in developing learning materials for a self-directed, flipped classroom approach. 
    • Working cooperatively with other technology personnel to implement a technology-rich teaching and learning environment.
    • Troubleshooting questions and problems related to the use of the learning management system. 
    • Researching emerging teaching and learning tools, initiatives and trends to provide ideas, guidance, and recommendations to faculty and staff. 
    • Developing and delivering online web-based resources such as tutorials, reference material, design standards, content resources, templates, and tools for instructional development. 
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Master's degree in Education or Instructional Design or a related field.  Two (2) years of experience in instructional design, distance learning, or corporate training. Experience in creating online modules using interactive tools such as Storyline. Working experience as an Instructional Designer in medical or other health professions schools. Working experience in curriculum mapping software and creating content reports.

     

     In-depth working knowledge of commonly used learning management systems (LMS) such as Blackboard, Moodle and Canvas etc.  Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word.

    Understanding of Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) or similar models.

    Knowledge and experience in video editing and screen capture tools such as Explaineverything, Panapto, Camtasia etc.

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Basic knowledge of medical terminology
    • Experience in interacting with the AAMC curriculum inventory portal
    • Understanding of web design and database tools, strong knowledge of graphic design and layout
    • Experience in leading faculty development sessions on topics related to teaching and learning
    • Involvement in regional/national committees and demonstration of other scholarly engagement
