The LPN Supervisor is responsible for the operations of a clinic with over 25 providers, direct supervision of medical assistants and LPNs within Portsmouth Family Medicine. Help manage and monitor Patient Centered Medical Home and Meaningful Use standards pertaining to the clinic.
Responsible for the daily clinical work flow of Portsmouth Family Medicine for over 25 providers, 6 Medical Assistants, and 1 LPNs.
Create, assign, review, maintain and distribute daily floor schedules as well as last minute coordination of schedule changes for staff and providers daily. Maintain neat, clean and orderly work environment for the clinic.
Coordinate daily room assignment and floor schedules to insure adequate staffing. Help maintain timely workflows for Faculty and Residents. Monitor the clinic and lab operations for glitches and issues arising.
Provide back-up coverage for staffing issues when clinical staff is absent.
Responsible for management of GYN and Procedure specialty clinics. This requires the proper work flow for review of the chart by the performing physician, prior authorization by referrals and scheduling of procedure.
Supervise and evaluate the job performances of clinical staff in their assigned duties. Along with the office manager, the process for disciplinary action will be discussed and the appropriate verbal and written warnings, probation and terminations will be carried out.
Orientate new staff on personnel and administrative issues, set-up orientation for new hires on team and check off progress.
Act as liaison between staff and providers.
Attend educational programs that will benefit the operation of the clinic as well as other departmental and management meetings – Weekly Management Meeting, Bi-Monthly Faculty when clinical, Super User meetings with the EHR team and others to be determined.
Order medications and medical supplies based off annual budget. For certain items, discussion with office manager and faculty is required to for budgets restrictions.
Handle patient complaints and concerns in a timely manner and documentation of all interactions. Assist with walk in patients, urgent calls and late arriving patients for availability.
Review missing charges, immunization charges, nursing tasks, Patient Connect Messages and Inactive provider tasks.
Assist Office Manager with staff development and education. Includes in-services, weekly education meetings and one-on-one trainings.
Orientate new providers each year to clinic workflow and assist with EHR training (shadow 1st day in clinic and periodically throughout the 1st week). Acts as Super User for EHR for providers and staff.
Ensure the clinic complies with Occupational Health regulations by administering and documenting PPD, flu vaccine and FIT testing for all staff and Physicians annually. This also includes the documentation for any blood and body fluid exposure (needle sticks and splashes).
Work with Office Manager and Medical Director, creating, implementing, revising and enforcing the EVMS and PFM policies and procedures for the clinic.
Implements PCMH, Meaningful Use and NCQA standards as related to the clinic. Works in conjunction with Care Management/Transition of Care nurse to implement care management, population health and patient self management.
Perform other duties as required.
LPN diploma, plus three (3) years of nursing experience. Supervisory experience is required. Must be a licensed LPN in Virginia.
