Works closely with the Director of Marketing & Communications to develop strategic direction and plan and monitor the effectiveness of all departmental activities, including news, events and community-outreach initiatives. Leads development of institutional print and digital publications (print and digital magazine, eNews, strategic plans, Facts and Figures, etc.). Serves as marketing liaison with designated departments on campus and facilitates production of collateral on their behalf.
In conjunction with the Director of Marketing & Communications, develop short- and long-term strategic goals, tactics and metrics to support institutional priorities.
Develops and maintains magazine/publication budgets.
Leads and coordinates campus digital signage including capital budget requests, software/hardware upgrades, content programming, etc.
Monitors and reports on metrics for institutional print/digital publications and various communication vehicles.
In the absence of the Vice President of Marketing and Communications and the Director of Marketing & Communications, oversee daily department operations.
Coordinate writing and creation of content and collateral material on behalf of multiple campus departments, in conjunction with various personnel from that department.
Pitch story ideas to various local, regional and national media to gain positive coverage for EVMS.
Assists the Director of Marketing & Communications with MarComm’s involvement with EVMS commencement, including coordination of printed collateral, photography and ceremony script.
Write or assist with developing presentations, speeches and talking points for senior administrators — including the President — for delivery at campus events.
Assist with emergency notification and crisis communication as needed.
Ability to shoot high-quality photos for use in print and digital outlets.
Performs other duties as assigned.
BA/BS in English, communications, marketing or journalism or equivalent years of professional experience.
Three (3) years of increasing levels of responsibility in writing, editing and media relations required. Strong background in content creation/brand journalism. Extensive experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and various digital media platforms.
