Overview

This is a full‐time position for a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)providing outpatient nursing care to geriatrics and/or patients with cognitive/neurodegenerative healthcare needs. This includes performing clinical and administrative duties such as: (1) triage patients [vitalsigns, height/weight, medical/social history, medication reconciliation], and/or interview care giver(s);(2) conduct initial memory tests (3) complete/send referral orders; (4) stock/prepare exam rooms; (5)retrieve imaging and laboratory results; (6) process work task/message ques in the electronic healthrecords [Allscripts], and the patient portal [FollowMyHealth] dashboard; (7) assist licensed practical nurse [LPN] and medical receptionist with daily clinical and administrative tasks; and (8) all otherappropriate duties assigned by the practice manager.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients in a professional, courteous manner
  • Triage/room patients. This includes, but is not limited to, obtaining vital signs and
  • Entering the chief complaint; enter/review/reconcile medication and allergy list.
  • Assist physicians/advanced practice providers/LPNs with examinations, minor procedures, and educate patients regarding proper care and follow‐up.
  • Conduct initial memory test using standing orders
  • Prepare, maintain, and stock exam rooms and clinical areas.
  • Complete/send referral orders.
  • Retrieve imaging and laboratory results.
  • Process work task/message ques in the electronic health records
  • Administers neuropsychological tests to patients, including but not limited to cognitive and memory tests, executive function tests, language and communication tests, and tests of attention and concentration
  • Maintains accurate and complete records of test administration and scoring, including the test materials used, the individual's responses, and the results
  • Maintain patient privacy and adhere to all HIPPA policies.
  • Follow EVMS protocols: infection control, environmental safety, patient confidentiality, annual
  • Blood borne pathogen, HIPAA compliance training, respiratory fit and IT policy.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and educational lectures.
  • Perform all other appropriate duties assigned by the practice manager.

Qualifications

High school diploma plus successful completion of a Medical Assistant program. Equivalent military training will be accepted.  Must have certification (CMA or RMA). Completion of BLS class and re-certify every 2 years. One year of medical assistant experience required. Customer service-oriented individual is required.
