Overview

Responsible for working directly with our Mohs patients and the referring providers. This position is responsible for ensuring appropriate referral information is received, scheduling patients for procedures and follow ups, and completing correspondence to the referring provider’s office. This positions is also responsible for answering the telephone, scanning pertinent patient data into the electronic medical record, and verifying patient insurance information.   Patient confidentiality must be maintained at all times.

Responsibilities

 

  • Open and close office.
  • Opens and closes templates for providers in IDX.
  • Schedule patient appointments, call patients to remind and confirm appointments, reschedule patients from bump list, and make sure providers and residents schedules are full.
  • Check patients in and out, collect copays, balances, self-pay, and cosmetic fees at time of service and record payments in IDX.
  • Update patient’s insurance and demographic information in the EHR.
  • Answer multi phone line and transfer patients to the proper department.
  • Set patients up with our patient portal (FMH) and trouble shoot any problems they are having.
  • Checks the electronic medical record for referrals and authorization prior to visit or upon patient arrival. Makes sure all information/ paperwork in scanned into the patients chart.
  • Performs daily batch in accordance with EVMS Medical Group cash handling policy and send to EVMS Medical Group for deposit.
  • Ensures waiting room is clean and organized.
  • Gives directions to patients and visitors.
  • Checks and answer tasks that are directly assigned to personal folder, Derm Reception Folder, Derm Sched and Derm Sched All Folders.
  • All other duties as assigned related to front office and administrative duties.

Qualifications

 High school diploma. One (1) year office/clerical experience required. Experience performing related functions in a medical practice is preferred. Previous front desk customer service experience will be considered.  

Professional, customer service-oriented individual is required.
