Overview

This position will provide technical support in the Yang lab to perform basic chemical, biological, or other laboratory tests and procedures in support of translation breast research projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with project planning, research design, and protocol development.
  • Prepares chemical solutions according to standard formulas.
  • Keep laboratory records and research data in an organized manner.
  • Performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment.
  • Records test results on standardized forms and writes test reports describing procedures used.
  • Perform studies involved in mammalian tissue culture, human samples, and cellular and molecular biology.
  • Familiarity with all software used in the PI`s laboratory and assisting trainees in learning to use this software;
  • Exploring new experimental techniques that may benefit the research activities in the laboratory.
  • Training new student volunteers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.  

 

EXPERIENCE:

Prior experience required in performing basic laboratory techniques such as the preparation of solutions, sterile technique, and keeping detailed record. The experience preferred (but not required) in tissue culture, western blotting, PCR, immunohistochemistry, cell imaging, immunoassays, and clinical sample handling techniques.
