Overview

The Research Assistant is incorporated into the team for Project Engage, a Global Development Alliance led by CONRAD and dedicated to advancing new HIV prevention methods for adolescent girls and young women in resource constrained countries with high HIV incidence. This position works collaboratively with CONRAD’s socio-behavioral and clinical research scientists and collaborators to support various aspects of socio-behavioral research such as the interpretation and dissemination of study results for Project Engage. This position conducts data analysis, draft manuscripts and study reports, and assist with various project R&D support and coordination activities. Together, through strong time management and interpersonal skills, experience and capacity for socio-behavioral research, and ability to learn new skills and adapt to changing priorities, the Research Assistant will contribute substantially to CONRAD’s mission to improve global health through the development of innovative, user-centered technologies.

 

Responsibilities

  • Prepare manuscripts, reports, presentations, and other written materials (e.g., grant applications, workplans) for selected R&D projects.
  • Perform qualitative data analysis and maintain accurate and up-to-date records for all analyses performed.
  • Perform literature searches and analyses.
  • Provide a written account of all data analysis and literature reviews conducted.
  • Collaborate with CONRAD colleagues cross-functionally.
  • Contribute to the coordination of and collaboration in socio-behavioral R&D projects and related meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in public health, social sciences, or other related discipline required; Master of Public Health, or other postbaccalaureate degree in social science or related discipline, preferred. One (1) year of research experience, preferably in qualitative and/or quantitative socio-behavioral research, required (concurrent with postbaccalaureate degree ok). Substantive knowledge of current youth, reproductive health, HIV and AIDS prevention, adherence, and/or microbicide/PrEP areas preferred. Proficient in literature searches, Excel, PC/technical writing skills. Demonstrated experience in manuscript writing strongly preferred.
