High school diploma or GED required. Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Police Science, Criminal Justice or related field preferred. Minimum of 2 year experience as a law enforcement officer or 6 months experience as a Police Officer 1 with EVMS Department of Police and Public Safety.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
- The Administrative Police Officer must have good communication skills (verbal, written, and listening).
- The Administrative Police Officer must develop a thorough working knowledge of the campus, to include its topography, buildings, streets, persons and organizations.
- The Administrative Police Officer must maintain a working knowledge of Virginia criminal code and traffic regulations, and enforce same.
- The Administrative Police Officer must maintain required qualifications in first−aid and CPR.
- The Administrative Police Officer must meet or exceed DCJS standards and EVMS Police and Public Safety guidelines in firearms, communications, handcuffs, baton, pepper foam, and other defensive tactics.
- The Administrative Police Officer must be honest, reliable, have good interpersonal skills, and be able to manage personal finances.
- The Administrative Police Officer must display courage in the presence of physical danger.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Certified by the Virginia DCJS as a Basic Law Enforcement Officer;
- IAHSS basic certification preferred
