Overview

The Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE) Specialist will support the development of the MSPE letter to facilitate medical students’ successful match into residency.

Responsibilities

  • Work with various stakeholders (e.g. administration, faculty, clerkship coordinators, students) to collect, organize, and synthesize feedback on student performance in the program via well-written, comprehensive, accurate narratives.
    Disseminate MSPE comments to students via the Learning Management System and MSPE Letter
    Work with assessment staff to gather and interpret required data, reviewing information to ensure accuracy for reporting.
    Ensure all deadlines are met and key stakeholders are kept up to date on the completion status of reports and the review process.
    Utilize internal and external electronic systems to obtain, manage, and report on large amounts of data and documents.
    Work with medical students to identify their “noteworthy characteristics”, and help craft and edit to ensure accuracy, honesty, and usefulness/impact.
    Identify opportunities for improvement of MSPE preparation processes and procedures.
    Ensure university, state and federal guidelines and policies regarding student records (e.g., FERPA) are upheld

Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of experience working in higher education. Bachelors degree is preferred, but not required.

 

Ideal candidate should have previous experience working with medical students and/or residents, providing oral and written feedback on performance; synthesizing information.

 

Strong Written Communication and Attention to Detail: Proficiency in composing, editing, and synthesizing feedback into accurate, comprehensive, and impactful narratives for student performance evaluations.

 

Data Management: Ability to gather, manage, and report large amounts of data accurately using electronic systems, ensuring all information is correct.

 

Stakeholder Collaboration and Interpersonal Skills: Skilled in working with diverse groups, including students, faculty, and administration, to collect feedback and ensure clear communication of updates and processes.

 

Time Management and Organizational Skills: Competence in managing multiple tasks, meeting deadlines, and keeping stakeholders informed of progress throughout the process.

 

Problem-Solving and Process Improvement Skills: Ability to identify opportunities for improving processes and procedures related to MSPE preparation, with the initiative to develop and implement effective solutions.

 

Required software skills: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft PowerPoint
