Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences Eastern Virginia Medical School at Old Dominion University is seeking a Chair for the Department of Dermatology who will report directly to the Provost/Dean and be responsible for managing and aligning the department's academic, research, and clinical activities with the ODU mission.
The department is comprised of five full time dermatologists with expertise in cutaneous oncology, hair disorders, ethnic skin, dermatopathology, and pediatric dermatology. Our dermatologic services are provided for patients at the Hampton Veterans Administration Medical Center, Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters, Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, on the EVMS main campus, and at our satellite office in the Princess Anne area of Virginia Beach. The department currently participates in collaborative research with investigators at EVMS, Hampton University, and Old Dominion University.
The Chairman will be responsible for:
Providing leadership to ensure that the Departmental activities further the EVMS mission and vision.
Providing administrative and supervisory support to educational, clinical, and research missions.
Participating in administrative department policy and procedural development.
Participating in education evaluation and career development of students, residents, fellows, and staff.
Collaborating with peers, faculty, and support staff.
Participating in academic, clinical, and research activities as needed.
Participating in committees as assigned.
Provide physician care to patients in office/hospital setting.
Participating in clinical based research research projects as needed.
MD, DO, MD/PhD, or equivalent terminal degree in a related area.
Must be board certified by the American Board of Dermatology.
Must possess or be eligible for an unrestricted Medical License in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Academic credentials that qualify for appointment as Associate or Full Professor.
