Responsible for front and back office clinical procedures. Also assists Physicians and Nurses with medical examination urodynamic testing of patients.
Train and orient new medical assistants.
Assist physicians, providers and nurses as a medical assistant in the daily care of our patients.
Takes vital signs such as height, weight, temperature, and blood pressure. May draw blood and give injections under the immediate supervision of a Physician, PA or NP.
Complete lab requisitions.
Chaperone and assist during minor surgeries, office procedures and diagnostic procedures.
Perform Urodynamic Testing.
Maintain clean, well-equipped examination rooms; clean and sterilize instruments.
Stock examination rooms and triage area with medical supplies.
QA Review of patient charts obtaining all pertinent documentation for new and established Urogynecology patients.
Access all applicable EMR systems in which, EVMS OBGYN interacts with.
Obtain and write referrals, when appropriately trained and directed, and schedules outside appointments with specialists.
Obtain prior authorizations for medications when required.
Ensure that appropriate data (i.e. Labs, medical records) are available prior to the appointment.
Obtain labs and clinic notes from referring Provider’s office
Obtain all inpatient records and labs prior to scheduled appointment
Obtain all specialty clinical notes, procedures, operative reports, and labs prior to appointment
Document all information in EMR and check EMR tasks daily.
Prepare education and surgical packets.
Takes calls on the triage line at the Norfolk and Virginia Beach location and responds promptly to patient requests.
Input charges to the EMR for nurse intake visits, injections or other procedures as assigned
Successful completion of a Medical assistant program (or equivalent military training) and certification (CMA or RMA) is required. Must have working knowledge of computers. Customer service-oriented individual is required.
At least one (1) year of Medical Assistant clinical experience in a physician’s office required. Women’s Health, Urology or Urogynecology preferred but not required.
