Overview

Nurse Practitioner position for MFM clinic with additional research mngr duties. 

Responsibilities

  • NP Duties (approx. 60% effort):

    Obtain a complete health, psychosocial, obstetric, and gynecologic history and record findings in a systematic, accurate, and succinct form

     

    Perform a complete physical examination, with specific emphasis on the reproductive system

     

    Order, perform, and interpret routine laboratory tests

     

    Develop and implement plans for health promotion and health maintenance, including plans for disease prevention and provision of health education and counseling

     

    Provide periodic health assessment of normal, non-pregnant, and asymptomatic women

     

    Provide clinical management of women having gynecologic problems

     

    Provide assessment, education, and management for family planning and fertility control

     

    Provide prenatal care for women with pregnancies, giving attention to both maternal and fetal health

     

    Provide postpartum care, including attention to parent and infant relationships, for women who have had pregnancies

     

    Provide health education and counseling, with emphasis on physical and psychosocial dimensions of adolescence, sexuality, childbearing, parenting, climacteric, aging, and family life

     

    Co-manage care for patients with selected health complications in collaboration with the physician

     

    Arrange referrals to other members of the health-care team as needed and to community resources as appropriate

     

    Monitor and make recommendations to nursing policy and procedure manual to include development of nursing protocols and procedures for same.

     

    Partner with the Department Administrator, Maternal Fetal Medicine Division Director and Practice Manager on quality standards, meaningful use, clinical workflows, nursing education and the delivery of exceptional patient care.

     

     

    Research Duties (approx. 40% effort):

    Manage assigned research studies in accordance with all institutional, regulatory, and compliance policies and procedures/guidelines. 

     

    Manage Hofheimer Hall research coordinators and staff to include assigning coordinators to studies, monitoring TAS, personnel issues, and ensuring adequate staffing coverage.

     

    Oversee patient recruitment.

     

    Ensure study files are current and accurate.

     

    Extract study data and enter into RedCap.

     

    Oversee and coordinate the collection of biological specimens.

     

    Develop, complete and submit case report forms.

     

    Oversee study site meetings and assist sites developing and completing study source documents.

     

    Oversee and coordinate communication between sponsors and site.

     

    Facilitate department’s monthly research meetings.

     

    IRB submissions to include EVMS and CIRB.

     

    Maintain a list of all active studies within Hofheimer Hall.

     

    Coordinate and attend various study related conferences.

     

    Work with research study collaborators and sponsors.

     

    Supervises assigned clinical research studies by recruiting patients, obtaining and processing samples, regulatory compliance, and monitoring

Qualifications

MSN with a nurse practitioner focus is required.

Must be a licensed RN by the Virginia Board of Nursing and a certified nurse practitioner.  

Experience as a Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant with obstetric patients is preferred but not required. 

CDCES Certification is desirable, but not required.
