Overview

This is a unique opportunity for an aspiring candidate that would play an essential role in coordination of research activities of the students, residents and faculty of the Department of Internal Medicine. The selected candidate will work closely with medical students, residents, and fellows to help them in developing, operationalizing, and completion of their scholarly work. The selected candidate will provide administrative resources and services that assist the learners from the beginning stage of study design to the final stage of presentation and publication. A key feature of this role will be working closely with the Department of Internal Medicine leadership in enhancing the scholarly activities of the learners.

Responsibilities

    • Works under the direction of the Department Chair & Associate Chairs
    • Collaborates on the planning, design, data collection, analysis and reporting of projects using expertise
    • Coordinates and facilitates IRB paperwork including online submissions, obtaining signatures, follow-up, and PI notification of IRB responses
    • Serve as liaison between researchers and IRB office
    • Facilitates the development of scholarly activities in the research and education within the department, including:
      • Advising and mentoring students, fellows and residents throughout their research projects to ensure that they successfully complete their research requirement
      • Develops and administers resources in support of faculty, fellow and resident research and quality improvement endeavors in the Department of Medicine.
      • Facilitates publications and presentations of data
      • Participates in the education of residents, fellows, and other faculty members in research activities through 1:1 meetings, lectures, and workshops.
    • Other related duties and projects as directed by the Chair (which in the past have included membership on residency, departmental and institutional committees, as well as other local/regional/national research endeavors)
    • Contributes to grant applications and grant writing
    • Identifies and matches new faculty, fellows or residents with mentors
    • Develops, distributes, and maintains departmental research policies.
    • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Health Sciences field
  • Master’s Degree in Public Health (MPH) preferred.
  • Prior experience in an academic environment 

Development and facilitation of scholarly activities in research within a large academic department and progressively more responsible positions in the realm of academic research is strongly preferred
