Overview

Maintain patient’s records for Maternal Fetal Medicine, OB Generalist, Advanced Gynecologic Surgery and Urogynecology office.  File all correspondences and charts.  Fax and send records to doctor offices, hospital, lawyers, insurance companies, etc.

Responsibilities

Scan correspondence into EMR daily.

 

Answer phones to assist with patient records.

 

Scan referrals into EMR daily.

 

Check EMR task daily.

 

Maintenance of medical record.

 

Verify patient information for accuracy.

 

Retrieve charts from storage when needed.

 

Charge tickets made and given to the Billing Department for record request.

 

Compliance with Policies and Procedures within the Department of Maternal Fetal Medicine, OB/GYN and EVMS Policies and Procedures.

 

Review and work on a weekly report generated by EVMS Medical Group that reports patients who were referred outside of our clinic for consultations, imaging, physical therapy, etc. follow-up on all referrals to ensure that we receive documentation of their visit from the outside provider/facility.

 

Respond to court ordered Subpoenas with requested medical records, requests from attorneys, and insurance carriers as requested.

 

Perform and assist in medical record audits

 

Check medical records fax machine daily (and mail room fax machine for incoming medical records requests).

 

Check Follow My Health inbox daily for requests.

 

Answer all incoming tasks assigned to medical records in a timely manner

 

Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Candidates should have prior experience in a medical records or administrative healthcare setting, with demonstrated ability to perform the mentioned duties efficiently and accurately.
