The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University is seeking an Ultrasonographer II to join our collaborative Urogynecology team. Whether you already have pelvic floor ultrasound experience or are interested in learning this advanced specialty, we provide comprehensive training and mentorship to help you succeed.

Position Overview

Working under the direction of a qualified physician, you will independently perform a variety of diagnostic ultrasound examinations requiring technical expertise, critical thinking, and compassionate patient care. In addition to traditional gynecologic imaging, you will have the opportunity to receive hands-on training in advanced pelvic floor ultrasound techniques.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

  • Perform routine gynecologic ultrasound examinations.
  • Perform 2D, 3D, and 4D imaging of female pelvic organs.
  • Learn and perform advanced Pelvic Floor Ultrasound (PFUS), including:
    • Perineal ultrasound
    • Introital ultrasound
    • Endovaginal ultrasound
  • Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary care teams to support diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Deliver exceptional patient-centered care in a supportive academic environment.

 

We Will Train You

  • Previous Pelvic Floor Ultrasound experience is not required.
  • Qualified candidates with OB/GYN ultrasound experience will receive structured training, mentorship, and ongoing support from our experienced physicians and sonographers. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in a growing subspecialty that few practices can offer.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or successful completion of a radiologic technology program and a medical sonography program
  • ARRT and/or ARDMS registration in Obstetrics/Gynecology required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant clinical experience
  • Pelvic Floor Ultrasound experience preferred; training available for qualified candidates
