Teach and advise undergraduate, master's, and/or doctoral students, conduct research, and provide service to the Department, JSPH, ODU, and profession.
This is a 10-month faculty line position.
Responsibilities
Teaching courses as assigned by the Department Chair - 2 courses in the fall, 2 courses in the spring
Research/scholarship - minimum 2 peer-reviewed publications per year on a 3-year rolling average.
Service to the Department, JSPH, ODU, community, and profession.
Qualifications
Applicants must:
Have an earned terminal doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, or ScD) in health behavior, health promotion, or related discipline from a CEPH-accredited program or school. Alternatively, have earned an MD degree from an accredited program and a master’s degree from a CEPH-accredited public health program or school.
Have experience teaching and mentoring diverse student populations and non-traditional students.
Have experience teaching in both in-class and online formats.
Demonstrate student advisement skills for public health students.
Demonstrate experience with student dissertation/practicum/internship and/or field experience.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrate independence and organizational skills.
Demonstrate ability to work with others within and across departments.
Preferred experience
Preference will be given to candidates who have:
Experience with competency-based educational program planning, evaluation, and monitoring program implementation.
Demonstrated experience in curriculum development.
Experience with student recruitment and marketing.
Demonstrated practice, community, and/or professional service.
Familiarity with CEPH, AUPHA, or other relevant accreditation processes.
A significant scholarly record of publications in health behavior, health promotion, or related areas, considering career stage and research potential.
