Overview

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Eastern Virginia Medical School is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated board-certified OBGYN Physician with a strong background in clinical research to join our multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care in obstetrics and gynecology while also contributing to ongoing or new research initiatives. This dual role is ideal for a clinician-scientist passionate about advancing women’s health through both practice and evidence-based research.

Responsibilities

Clinical Duties:

  • Provide comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care in inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Manage prenatal care, labor and delivery, postpartum care, and general gynecology.
  • Diagnose and treat reproductive health issues, including infertility, menstrual disorders, and menopause.
  • Perform minimally invasive procedures and complex surgeries as needed.
  • Supervise and teach medical students and residents in clinical and didactic settings.

 

Research Responsibilities:

  • Design, conduct, and publish clinical or translational research in the field of obstetrics and gynecology.
  • Collaborate with academic partners, institutions, and internal teams to secure research funding and manage grants.
  • Mentor medical students, residents, or fellows in clinical research projects.
  • Present findings at scientific meetings and contribute to peer-reviewed publications.
  • Ensure research is conducted ethically and in compliance with institutional and federal regulations.

Qualifications

MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.

Board-certified or board-eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Eligible for medical licensure in Virginia.

Demonstrated excellence in clinical care and teaching.

Academic experience or interest in clinical research. 

Proven research experience in women's health, OBGYN, or related field, demonstrated through publications or grants

Completion of a research fellowship or advanced training in clinical research (preferred but not required).

 

Both academic appointment and salary are commensurate with qualifications and are highly competitive on a regional and national level.
