Overview

The Senior Training Consultant serves as a strategic partner within Organizational Development and Training (ODT) and is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive learning and workforce development initiatives that support institutional effectiveness and employee success.

 

This role provides advanced consultation to university leaders, faculty, and staff to identify organizational needs and deliver innovative, data-informed training solutions that strengthen leadership capacity, enhance employee engagement, and support workforce readiness across the institution.

 

The Senior Training Consultant develops and facilitates professional, workforce, and leadership development programs, supports training consultants and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with Talent Management and Culture division and institutional strategic priorities.

Responsibilities

Training & Organizational Development

  • Serve as a senior-level consultant to university leadership, departments, and administrative units on organizational development and training strategies.
  • Conduct needs assessments and organizational analyses to identify learning gaps and performance improvement opportunities.
  • Design and implement leadership and workforce development and employee engagement initiatives aligned with institutional goals.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive training curricula, learning pathways, and competency-based development programs.
  • Partner with HR Services, compliance, institutional departments, and leadership to support talent development change management, and workplace culture initiatives.

Program Development & Delivery

  • Design, develop, and deliver engaging in-person, hybrid, and virtual training programs and workshops for employees at all levels.
  • Facilitate professional, leadership and workforce development workshops/programs.
  • Integrate adult learning theory and evidence-based practices into training solutions.
  • Utilize learning technologies, learning management systems (LMS), and digital platforms to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, feedback, and data analytics; recommend program improvements.

Leadership

  • Provide coaching, and mentorship to training consultants, and faculty or staff as assigned.
  • Lead project teams and cross-functional initiatives related to workforce development and organizational effectiveness.
  • Serve as an expert in leadership and workforce development and workplace culture initiatives.
  • Represent ODT on institutional committees and initiatives related to employee development and engagement.

Collaboration

  • Serves as the TMC Associate Ombudsperson.
  • Build collaborative relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Support institutional initiatives related to leadership development, workforce readiness, and employee experience.
  • Engage with professional associations and maintain awareness of emerging trends and best practices in organizational development and talent management.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Organizational Development, Human Resources, Education, Public Administration, Business, or a related field of study. Or a bachelor’s degree in one of the preceding fields with related work experience equivalent to a master’s degree is required.
  • Comprehensive progressively responsible experience developing and delivering training presentations and learning programs.
  • Considerable experience facilitating leadership development and workforce development initiatives.
  • Considerable supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Prior working experience conducting needs assessments and evaluating training effectiveness.
  • Some experience with learning management systems and instructional technologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a related field of study is preferred.
  • Some leadership experience within an organization or institution.
  • Some experience working in K–12 education, vocational/workforce development, academic medicine, or higher education environments.
  • Professional certifications such as:
    • Certified Workforce Development Professional (CWDP)
    • ATD Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD)
    • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM PHR, SCP)
    • Organizational Development (OD) certification
    • Coaching certification (ICF or equivalent)
  • Some experience designing cohort-based or certificate leadership programs.
