Responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding philanthropic relationships and investments at the high five, six, and seven figure level in support of Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University. Manages a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors, builds strong relationships with alumni, grateful patients, community leaders, and institutional partners, and develops tailored strategies to secure transformative support for medical education, research, clinical priorities, and community health initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's degree required.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive fundraising experience, preferably in higher education, academic medicine, or nonprofit advancement.
Demonstrated ability to build and manage relationships with high-net-worth individuals and key stakeholders.
Proven track record of securing major gifts at the five- and six- figure level, with experience working toward seven- figure opportunities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proposal and solicitation experience.
Ability to develop and execute major gift fundraising strategies.
Proficiency with donor databases and CRM systems (e.g. Raiser's Edge, Salesforce)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience fundraising in an academic health sciences or complex university environment.
Demonstrated success closing gifts of $100,000+ or higher.
Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential preferred but not required.
Master's degree in a related field (higher education, healthcare administration, business or nonprofit management) is a plus.
