Overview

The Strelitz Diabetes Center, Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders Division, Department of Medicine is recruiting for an Advanced Practice Provider (APP), a nurse practitioner (NP) or a physician assistant (PA), who will function as a clinical provider. The APP will participate in all aspects of patient care and will participate in the supporting roles of consultant, and educator. The main role of the position will include outpatient care of patients as well as in-patient consulting and conducting hospital inpatient rounds. Primary focus will be on patients with diabetes mellitus but may also include other endocrine disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical care to patients in an office/ hospital setting.
  • Collaborate with Nursing, office staff, administration in patient care.
  • Collaborate with peers, and support staff.
  • Participate in academic/clinical/research activates as needed.
  • Participate in education evaluations and career development of students, residents, fellow, and staff.
  • Participate in committees as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • Nurse Practitioner must have MSN and must be a licensed RN by the Virginia Board of Nursing and a certified Nurse Practitioner.
  • Physician Assistant must have an MPA, and must be a licensed Physician Assistant within the Commonwealth of Virginia.


EXPERIENCE PREFFERRED:

  • Three years of experience as an APP is preferred.
  • Experience in taking care of diabetes patients or having a certification in diabetes education.
  • Must have ability to function independently, as well as be a member of our health care team to deliver quality care to our diabetic patient population.
