Overview

Research Scholar will be assigned to work with research projects with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate understanding of scientific method with respect to assigned project(s).
  • Performs literature search applicable to assigned project(s).
  • Develop investigative strategies with regards to project of study.
  • Propose and gain approval of the scientific protocol with regards to the investigative review board, and other research committees.
  • Identify, extrapolate and analyze data outlined in assigned protocol(s).
  • Conduct experiments proposed in protocol(s).
  • Correlate findings with what has been previously published, and publish contributions to the research.
  • Contribute to department clinical trials through subject screening, recruitment, informed consent, follow up visits, and data entry
  • Participate in educational conferences.
  • Acquire ultrasound knowledge through research activities.
  • Screen the EMR as permitted for patients who meet any study criteria
  • Call patients or approach them in clinic about studies
  • Review informed consent with patients/enrolling them in studies
  • Randomize subjects to study drug
  • Perform blood draws and specimen processing/shipping
  • Chart abstraction from EPIC and data entry
  • Taking vitals like blood pressure, height, weight, waist circumference

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: Degree in Medicine.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience: 2 years of related research experience or equivalent experience preferred. Knowledge of ultrasound equipment and software; experience with subject recruitment and informed consent, knowledge of Microsoft computer software.
  • Language/ Research Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to research, analyze, extrapolate, and record data with elements of observations directly related to assigned research proposals. Statistical skill is preferred.
