The primary responsibility of the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) is to shape the digital and medical information transformation in support of the 3-part mission of teaching, research, and clinical service. Specifically, the CMIO will serve as the digital and medical information executive lead for EVMS’ digital strategy, inclusive of its electronic health record (Epic Community Connect), artificial intelligence, and optimization of clinical deployments through digital assets. The Chief Medical Information Officer reports to the Dean of the medical school but will work in collaboration with other organizational executives, including departmental chairs and the CEO of the medical group.
As an integral part of this role, the Chief Medical Information Officer focuses on innovative approaches for improving the quality, efficiency, and appropriateness of care delivered to Hampton Roads members. She or he serves as a thought leader on digital and medical informatics, with an eye toward system-wide value enhancements through the institution of best practices and technological solutions or other enhancements.
