Overview

This position reports to the Testing Center Manager and plays a critical role in supporting on-site operations at the Waitzer Hall Testing Center. The Lead Exam Proctor provides consistent, on-site coordination for all exam administrations, ensuring continuity in staffing and operations by being present for every exam. This role is responsible for preparing testing rooms and technology, ensuring adequate proctor coverage, managing seating charts, supervising exam administrations, and responding to issues in real time to maintain a secure, standardized, and professional testing environment that supports student success. 

 

The Lead Exam Proctor also assists with training, stays up to date on best practices in exam security, and ensures exams are administered securely, smoothly, and in compliance with program-specific, testing center, institutional and testing sponsor (e.g. National Board of Medical Examiners, Physician Assistant Education Association) policies.  

Responsibilities

Testing Center Preparation and Administration

  • Prepare the TC environment for exam administrations.
  • Manage seating charts for each exam.
  • Ensure proper implementation of exam accommodations in collaboration with Student Disability Services.
  • Supervise exam administrations to ensure compliance with program, institutional, and sponsor policies.

Proctoring & Exam Day Oversight

  • Actively proctor exams and monitor examinees for adherence to policies.
  • Maintain a calm, secure testing environment and address student questions.
  • Resolve exam-day issues and escalate concerns to appropriate administrators.

Technology & Operations Coordination

  • Monitor and collaborate with IT to resolve technical issues
  • Support alignment between proctor schedules and TC schedules
  • Asist with ensuring adequate staffing for each exam administration

Training and Staff Support

  • Collaborate with TC leadership to ensure proctors are trained and equipped
  • Assist with training related to TC policies and procedures

Other Duties

  • Assist with tracking and reporting TC and examinee data
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

  • Must be proficient with MS Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel. Must be skilled in the use of Microsoft Office and Internet
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with public, partners, customers, and co-workers while working cooperatively and effectively with others to achieve common goals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with students, faculty, staff, and external partners.
  • Ability to adapt to changing work environments, work priorities, and organizational needs. Takes independent action to address and resolve problems.
  • Ability to expresses ideas effectively and demonstrate sound judgment with regard to decision-making.
  • Ability to deal with others in a direct honest manner and comply with all EVMS policies and procedure.
  • Ability to escalate issues when needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • At least three years of experience in a student testing environment preferred.
  • Experience with ExamSoft and RegisterBlast are preferred.
