The Division of Colorectal Surgeon at Eastern Virginia Medical School has a faculty position opening at the assistant or associate professor level. Candidates should either be board certified or board eligible and interested in program building and working in a multidisciplinary manner with colleagues in numerous specialties. Opportunities exist for collaborative research (both clinical and basic science).
This temporary position is responsible for greeting patients, answering the telephone, scanning pertinent patient data into the electronic medical record, checking patients in and out, verifying patient insurance and referrals, and scheduling appointments. Patient confidentiality must be maintained at all times.
Candidates should have availability Monday-Friday anywhere from 8am-5pm. This is an hourly position working no more than 29 hrs/week.

The Life Support Training Center Instructor is responsible for delivering the AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Basic Life Support (BLS) programs; the EVMS Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) program, and other life support oriented educational programs conducted by the SCSIL in accordance with the instructor’s credentials and qualifications. Standardized Patients instruct and assess health providers at multiple levels (undergraduate, post graduate, and practicing providers) in clinical and communication skills, physical examination techniques and procedural skills. SPs may also work with non-medical professionals to instruct and assess communication skills. In addition to teaching and assessment, SPs will provide detailed feedback on learner performance and perform various duties as assigned. All SP events and activities will be recorded for teaching and assessment purposes.
A standardized patient (SP) is defined as, “A person trained from a standardized case to present a social and emotional history, as well as specific findings on physical examination with such realism that even an experienced clinician can rarely detect the simulation. They are people from the community who perform four roles: to portray a patient case, document learner performance, provide feedback on clinical and interpersonal skills and represent patient satisfaction.”
