The postdoctoral scholar is a research position, focusing on drug discovery, toxicology, pharmacology, and/or medicinal chemistry. The job may entail a training component to work with students and/or learners.

This is a Full time position for a Licensed Practical Nurse, providing outpatient nursing care for our patients and assisting our physicians in all clinical areas of the practice.

Train and consult with pregnant women to help them achieve adequate prenatal and post-natal care as well as encourage proper care of their infants through age 2 through a home visiting approach. 

Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting them in person or on the telephone.  Schedules office visits, follow up appointments and in office procedures for 11 physicians, including surgical oncologists, a plastic surgeon and acute care surgeons.  Answers multi-phone line.  Assists patients with their office visit to include checking them in and out, assuring insurance information is accurate, and personal information is updated. Corresponds daily with administrative staff regarding physician’s calendars and schedules. Obtains pre-authorizations and confirms eligibility of insurance.  Acts as liaison between the patient, physician, hospital, business office and insurance companies in scheduling surgical appointments.

This is a full-time position for a licensed social worker with medical case management experience and a strong desire to work in a hospital setting, as well as an outpatient setting. Must be empathetic, and an organized individual with excellent communication and prioritization skills, who has a high interest in healthcare. The Medical Case Manager will provide direct hospital and outpatient care coordination for our patients and assist our physicians to meet emerging quality metrics. The Medical Case Manager’s role is to liaison with a patient, their family, and the patient's healthcare providers to coordinate medical and community resources in order to improve patient health outcomes.

A postdoctoral scholar position is in The Leroy T. Canoles Jr. Cancer Research Center and the George L. Wright Center for Biomedical Proteomics at the Eastern Virginia Medical School, a leader in the field of biological mass spectrometry, proteomics and cancer biomarker discovery and development. The Research Scholar will be incorporated into the project team and will participate in project planning, experimental design, sample processing, LC/MS, computational and pathway analysis, data interpretation.   The position will also include opportunities to co-author publications and to contribute to the development of grant proposals. The Research Scholar will join a team working closely with research scientists, graduate students, and faculty from other research groups. Professional development is strongly encouraged including support for professional travel to relevant conferences.

- Responsible for soliciting gifts of $25,000 and higher from individuals (alumni and non-alumni friends). - Manage relationships with approximately 150 prospective donors and will be expected to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward these individuals (alumni and non-alumni friends). - Works collaboratively with and in support of volunteers, other development staff, faculty and staff and other EVMS representatives to cultivate and solicit donors for institutional priorities. - Monitors all prospect contacts to ensure positive and purposeful prospect and donor relations. Expertise in moves management preferred. - Recommends and assists with development of funding opportunities to include creation of business plans, milestones/timelines, outcomes metrics and financial requirements for building budgets for sustainable programs. - Must be a highly energetic professional with a track record of building donor relationships and closing gifts in the six-figure range. - Reports to the associate director of development and works collaboratively and strategically with the Assistant Vice President for Development, development staff, senior management, academic leadership, other campus and volunteer leaders. - Work schedule will require weekends, evenings, and extended hours as needed to include meetings with donors, attending social, professional and community events, attending committee meetings and other activities.

The Life Support Training Center Instructor is responsible for delivering the AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Basic Life Support (BLS) programs; the EVMS Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) program, and other life support oriented educational programs conducted by the SCSIL in accordance with the instructor’s credentials and qualifications. The Life Support Training Center Instructor must have the ability to adapt to a flexible work schedule which includes weekends and evenings.   This is a transient position working no more than 20 hours per week.

Investigate the detailed mechanisms underlying microglial activation in HAND and drug addiction.  One post-doctoral position is available immediately in the department of Anatomy and Pathology, Eastern Virginia Medical School.  The candidates will work with a team of scientists exploring the role of microglia in the development of HIV-associated neurological disorders (HAND) and drug addiction.  The successful candidate should have the experience on cell culture, WBs, qRT-PCR, immunofluorescence, etc.  Animal skills are necessary and surgical experience will be greatly appreciated.  The candidate will have principle on neuroscience and be a team-worker.  The candidate should able to interact with other scientists presently working in the lab, including other post docs and research techs.   All NIH policy and regulation apply to this position. 

Cancer Biology Laboratory (PI, Dr. Amy H. Tang) would like to recruit a competitive Ph.D. scientist and/or a new PhD graduate to fulfill the duties of a Postdoctoral Scientist in the Leroy T. Canoles Jr. Cancer Research Center at Eastern Virginia Medical School. This position will work under the general direction and research supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), Dr. Amy H. Tang.    

The Exam Proctor is responsible for the administration of all EVMS computer­ based examinations and web-based NBME Subject Examinations in strict compliance with EVMS and NBME testing regulations. The Exam Proctor is responsible for maintaining examination security and ensuring that examinees comply with all testing processes/procedures outlined by EVMS and the NBME.   This is a transient position, working no more than 20 hours per week.

The Peer Educator helps to provide up-to-date HIV information for individuals living with HIV and had a desire to share their knowledge with others.

Cryo electron microscopy laboratory (PI Dr. Vitold E. Galkin) is seeking motivated postdoc to conduct research on the mechanisms of cardiac muscle contraction. Dr. Galkin has excellent records of publications in the field of structural biology and pioneered single-particle approach to 3D reconstruction of helical filaments while working with Dr. Edward H. Egelman at UVA. PI has access to two state of the art Titan Krios TEMs equipped with Falcon 3c and K3 summit direct detectors, energy filters and phase plates. The nearest facility at UVA is within 2.5h by car. EVMS has TEM on site to conduct preliminary studies on protein complexes. PI has large park of Linux based work stations with 256-512Gb of memory and 36-48 core processors for high speed computing. SPIDER, EMAN2 and RELION software is used for classification and 3D-reconstruction. Position is offered for 3 years and is funded by the NIH R01 grant.
